When I realized my mom was going to spend Christmas in the hospital, I went out and bought her this little tree for her room. It is very Henny. I had no idea at the time that she wouldn’t make it to see the day. For some reason, the tree is one of the few things of hers that I brought home with me after her funeral in Holland.
Meagan suggested putting it out this year. And I’m glad she did. It is sweet and festive and gave us something to put our pressies around. I almost died from giggles at Meagan’s wrapping job on my gift. Two kinds of paper and 100 pieces of tape. But the giant lump contained the most perfect white bathrobe that ever there was. I am just going to get in it and stay toasty warm forever.
The kiddo is now off at her dad’s opening round number two. And I will spend the day being lazy and getting my stuff together for Beardmas tomorrow. It’s the most wonderful time of the beard.
