Potverdomme, dat es een heel mooi foto! Tee hee. I can totally hear both my mom and my oma saying that swear in my head. Nevertheless, I zapped this photo from my travels into black and white and whoa dang I feel things in my parts. Wanna go again soon. IT’S SO PRETTY!

This time last year I was getting excited about going to Holland. I know I won’t be going this year but that doesn’t mean I don’t miss it like crazy. Next spring. For sure.

Even though I love the photos I took, I wasn’t using instagram at the time so it’s kind of neat to go back and play with a photo or two. Beyond the tulips, my favourite thing was finding really quiet streets in the Jordaan away from the hubbub of the tourist area. As my family is in the Hague and Voorschoten (which are supremely beautiful places to be, so no complaints), my trips to the ‘dam were just day trips. I think next time I’ll spend a few nights so I can sit, relax and enjoy it even more. It’s just so pretty.

I had a sad moment when I suddenly realized that the lovely Dutch tumblr photo blog I follow is no more. Seeing an image from a place I adore every morning was such a nice way to start my day. So, rather than collapse in a fit of pique, I cheated and instagrammed one of my own travel photos instead. Take that, cold unfeeling internet.

I miss you little land of wooden shoes. I’ll be back again soon.

Hello from the alley (by minou*)

Every morning I wake up and there’s a picture postcard waiting to greet me from Holland. I was following this blog before I went in the spring but it’s all the more important now that I don’t exactly know when I’m going back. It makes me think of my family, reminds me to send them a note and stocks up my mental card file of places I’d like to go when I’m there next. Utrecht and Maastricht are definitely on the list.

Whomever is pulling this together to greet me every morning, harte bedankt. It’s my favourite non-person tumblr I follow.

Okay, this is serious business. I went here with my mom and Meags in 2008 but somehow MISSED this happy little windmill. I fail at life. Anyway, he makes me smile. He’s all fuck yeah I’m a green windmill. Check ME out.

I like this shot a whole lot. I really think the secret to a good chunk of Holland’s prettiness is all that water and the reflections captured therein.

My plan is to keep posting the shots that I stop on every time I scroll through until I’ve got nothing to share anymore rather than put all 1037 photos on flickr. There’s just a few more.

This is Delft. I got attacked by a protective papa duck a few minutes later because I didn’t see how close I was standing to his baby mama and their wee bebbehs. I don’t blame him one bit.

These fridge magnets of Nijntje are, by far, my favourite souvenirs that I brought home for Meagie. They combine my favourite Dutchie things which are Royal Delft pottery (these are the real deal) and the best drawn bunnyface in the whole world.

They make me seriously happy and I’m kicking myself that I didn’t buy more. Perhaps I will have to go back. Horrible. Horrible.
